NLP and Special Education

Take a look at the sub headings in this area of the site.

As a special Education Teacher I have found that NLP skills open a new world of learning for my students.

As a developmental specialist I break down programs into smaller steps to teach a skill, for instance shoe tying. When I broke that one down, I came up with 20 small steps.  Then I chose to backward chain or teach the skill from the finish to the beginning to my student wanting to learn to tie.  Soon success came his way.

Using this skill I do the same with NLP Programs. I take a program designed to teach excellence to others and break it down, or chunk it down, into even smaller steps that can be understood and assimilated by the special needs population.

Below you will find a sample of my work.  This is called the Pentagon of Excellence.  When I was teaching the Circle of Excellence to my students I realized that we needed visuals to guide them through the program. Using a pentagon (which taught them a new shape) provided that visual.  They were able to write on it, chose their color and have something to stand on.

This is a sample of the client worksheets available for purchase.  Worksheets often include floor placement markers you can use when guiding a client through a program.

The curriculum includes worksheets, lesson plans, and sometimes visual aides to assist you in teaching the skill to your students.   Also included are a variety of songs to help your students learn faster and have fun, also.

Keep checking back, this site is in progress!

Soon to be here is a brand new NLP program based on the Circle of Excellence but "chunked down" for special needs and younger students , Pentagon of Excellence!  This was developed by Debrah Roundy for her Minico Spuds Special Olympics team and has been taught to athletes from all over Idaho.   If you like the Circle of Excellence you'll love the way it is present for our children and special needs population.
